Meighen Haddad LLP would like to congratulate our associate, Jill Giesbrecht, on her appointment to the Manitoba Bar Association (MBA) Council. Jill is one of the elected representatives and will begin her two-year term on September 1, 2023.

The MBA is governed by the Council which is composed of 20 members elected for a two-year term. There are 15 members from the City of Winnipeg, two from Dauphin/Western Manitoba, two from Central/Eastern Manitoba, and one from Northern Manitoba.  The Council is responsible for the advancement of the affairs of the MBA, meeting four times per year to hear reports, debate and vote on policies and resolutions. It approves the strategic and operational plans and the annual budget as recommended by the Executive Committee.

Jill is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Brandon and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westman. She also volunteers at several organizations including a local high school as a basketball coach and at the Women’s Resource Centre.
