David
E. Swayze, B.A. (Spec.) LL.B.
David Swayze is a life-long resident of Brandon. He
is a graduate of Brandon University and received his
legal training at Dalhousie Law School. David articled
with Meighen, Haddad & Co. in 1997, received his
call to the Bar in 1998 and became a partner with
the firm in 2003. He is a past President of the Brandon
University Alumni Association, and has volunteered
his time to teach Continuing Legal Education and the
Bar Admissions Course for the Law Society of Manitoba.
In addition to carrying on a general practice, David
focuses his practice on civil litigation representing
our clients in such areas as collections, contracts,
construction disputes, and estate litigation. David
advises a number of the firm’s institutional
clients on matters such as general corporate liability
and contracts. In addition, a large part of David’s
practice relates to human rights, employment and labour
law. He has appeared before all levels of courts in
Manitoba as well as various boards and tribunals including
the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and the Manitoba
Labour Board. David is also southwestern Manitoba’s
only registered Trade-mark Agent and regularly advises
clients on intellectual property issues.
