Blair
J. Filyk, B.Comm. (Hons.), LL.B.
Blair Filyk is a graduate of the University of Manitoba,
having received the degrees of Bachelor of Commerce
in 1984 and Bachelor of Law in 1987. Blair received
his call to the Manitoba Bar in 1988, and joined the
firm of Meighen Haddad LLP as an associate
in 1992, becoming a partner in 1999. In addition to
his Brandon practice, Blair maintains a branch office
in the Town of Hamiota.
Blair
has developed a successful legal practice as counsel
to various large, medium and small businesses, financial
institutions, municipal governments, organizations
and individuals in Southwestern Manitoba, providing
general and specific advice and legal services on
a diversity of legal, business and policy matters.
His practice is focussed on corporate, commercial,
agribusiness and small business organizations, asset
and share transactions, estate and succession planning
issues, financing and security matters, municipal
law, and business conflict resolution.
Blair
is involved extensively in the community. He is currently Chair
of the Brandon and Area Community Foundation, a past Chair for the
Brandon Family YMCA and is a past National Board Member with YMCA Canada.
Blair further acts as pro-bono legal counsel for two various not-for-profit community groups.
